- 1oo swimmers
- Derwentwater, Lake District
On 11/11/18 they will commemorate the sacrifice made by our armed forces in World War One, and subsequent armed conflicts, by holding a Swim to Remember.
One hundred years after the signing of the Armistice, a hundred swimmers will enter the water and assemble in silence whilst The Last Post rings out over the stillness of Derwentwater. The swimmers will pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom by swimming in silence for a thousand metres in the chilly November water.
If you want to be considered for one of the 100 places available on this very special swim, you must be able to swim 1km winter temperatures of <10°C.
1¾ hours (10:30 – 12:15)
Must be able to swim 1km
There is no charge for this swim, but you are expected to make a donation of at least £10.00 and perhaps take part in further fund raising activities to reach the £1,000 target. This could be by attracting sponsorship for your swim, or by organising workplace collections.
